  • Overview

    The primary purpose of the Foreclosure Specialist is to evaluate loans to determine if foreclosure is best course for Planet Home Lending and its investors. Refer loans to approved attorneys, and monitor to ensure foreclosure activity meets timelines established by Planet Home Lending or its investors. Assist attorney in responding to any defensive or litigated matter.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Evaluate loans and determine if foreclosure is the best course of action for Planet Home Lending and its investors.
    • Review and evaluate property valuations and reports to analyze net present values.
    • Refer accounts to approved Planet Home Lending attorneys to initiate foreclosure or file claims and motions.
    • Monitor attorney progress during the foreclosure process and instruct attorney on activities to complete actions within established timelines.
    • Report foreclosure to Planet Home Lending investors. Obtain approvals as needed from the investors.
    • Utilizing Planet Home Lending’ approved attorneys defend, resolve and or settle any counterclaims/defenses made by the mortgagors or third parties.
    • Have full knowledge of state, federal, and investor requirements, and ensure the foreclosure and bankruptcy actions and are full compliance with requirements.

    Position Requirements

    • A college degree preferable in business or work experience equivalent
    • Three to five years of foreclosure, collections, default servicing, and/or mitigation experience required
    • Knowledge/understanding of foreclosure process and laws, collection procedures, and mortgage banking
    • Strong negotiation and analytical skills

    • Effective listening/communication skills

    • Effective decision making skills

    • Detail oriented with strong follow-up/organization skills

    • Basic knowledge/skills of following (or comparable applications) Microsoft Office, Access, and MSP loan servicing system
